AR Power have recently helped 25 children from years 3 and 4 at a local school plant 50 trees in their garden area.
The initiative was led by Climate Action North as part of the “Global Wilders ®” Awards programme where children undertake a number of tasks across various projects to earn their award.
Today’s tree planting was part of the “Tree Wilders” project where the children are creating a tree planted area suitable for wildlife and biodiversity, including Hedgehogs.
This was a follow on from an activity which Climate Action North delivered at the school in October all about Hedgehogs and was entitled “Hog Wilders”, where the children were learning about hedgehogs and their habitat.
The trees planted were supplied to Climate Action North by The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) as part of their “I Dig Trees” Programme. The “Wildlife Booster” pack of 50 trees consisted of, 10 Hawthorn, 10 Blackthorn, 10 Hazel, 5 Dogwood, 5 Elderberry, 5 Dog Rose, 5 Silver Birch.
AR Power specifically funded the Global Wilders® Awards work carried out by the Climate Action North Team in bringing the project together working with the school – also securing an ongoing relationship with the school for future Corporate Social Responsibility support in the future. Climate Action North are already in discussions with the School about planning further activities in Spring 2025.
The team at AR Power helped groups of children dig holes and plant trees, making sure they were in the ground correctly. There were one or two trees left over as the children returned to class so we took care of them. The team had great fun and found it worthwhile.
As a company, AR Power do everything we can to support the local community and initiatives and this was a great project to be involved in which will benefit the environment and wildlife to years to come.
