We would like to welcome our latest apprentice to the team, Matthew Warren.
Matthew has joined our in-house design team as a Design Engineer Apprentice and will learn all about solar, working with our Technical Manager Luke Lobo and other engineers to design effective solar PV systems for our customers.
Matthew said “I chose to do an apprenticeship so I could gain some hands-on experience while working in a professional environment. This gives me access to valuable knowledge and skills from various colleagues around me. Starting a career while doing an apprenticeship is also setting me up for the future, giving me the opportunity to grow as a person while building up my experience. Gaining a salary is also a huge bonus of starting an apprenticeship, as you no longer have to rely on student loans to fund your study. Overall, an apprenticeship will give me all the key components to excel in my career.

Matthew joins our 3 other apprentices pictured left to right:
Jake Greenwell is in his 3rd year of his Electrotechnical Installation and Maintenance apprenticeship.
Jack Winship is in his final year of his Electrotechnical Installation and Maintenance apprenticeship.
Scott Cartledge is a 1st year apprentice and officially starts his apprenticeship in February 2025.
Dan Johnson (not pictured) was the first apprentice to join AR Power and is now a fully qualified electrician.
Scott said “The reason I chose to do my this specific apprenticeship is due to always wanting to start being in a trade and personally believe an electrical trade is the most sufficient as well as reliable job, as everyone needs there lights changing. I really enjoy the hands on work, I enjoying learning new skills each day and seen the self improvement in myself in many different aspects, such as wiring an isolator.
“I would highly recommend an apprenticeship to anyone who is looking for a trade, whether it’s electrical apprenticeship or joinery etc. I believe an apprenticeship is the start to your future job and preparing you for what is to come.”
Chris Balmer, Operations Director at AR Power, emphasised the company’s commitment to apprenticeships, stating, “At AR Power, we place a strong emphasis on apprenticeships. It’s an excellent opportunity to learn while earning, and we’ve received outstanding feedback from our current apprentices. We consider our apprentices to be an integral part of our team, some of which are now equipped with the necessary skills to perform key tasks under supervision and guidance such as installing BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) like the Tesla Powerwall and commercial solar electrical installations.”
“We are proud of our apprenticeship program and the positive impact it has on both our apprentices and our business. By investing in the next generation of skilled workers, we are not only supporting their career development but also ensuring the continued growth and success of AR Power.”
We are really looking forward to having Matthew as part of the team.
